Spearit Software Announces Release of Associate This

Toms River, NJ – Spearit Software, Inc. has announced the release of Associate This, a new file association management utility. According to Dan Spear, President of Spearit Software, "Associate This addresses a number of problems that arise when multiple programs installed on a computer are capable of opening the same type of file."

Computer users frequently discover after installing new software that their files now open in a different program. The Association Monitor component of Associate This runs in the background and watches for file types that have been "hijacked" by newly installed applications, Spear says. When such a situation is detected, the user is notified and offered the choice of accepting or reversing the change.

Associate This also assists the user who sometimes needs to display a file in more than one program with its Open Tracker feature. "Web designers, for example, may need to test their pages in multiple browsers to ensure compatibility," Spear explains. "You can configure Associate This to always ask which program to use when a particular file type is opened. You can also select a file in Windows Explorer or another file management program and then choose the program you want to use to open it from a pop-up menu."

With its easy-to-use interface, Associate This is ideal for computer neophytes who may not have the technical expertise to resolve file extension conflicts, while sophisticated users will appreciate the program's advanced configuration options. A fully-functional, 30-day trial version can be downloaded at no cost from the Spearit Software web site. The registered version is available for $19.99.

Spearit Software, Inc., a developer of software utilities, was founded in 1999 by Dan Spear. The goal of Spearit Software is to create quality software that addresses real problems faced by today's computer users. Associate This is Spearit Software's second product. Move Me, a migration utility that moves programs and files to a new computer, was released in December 2002.
